Avant-Garde: The Fashion and Art Society: Georgia Tech Atlanta: Throwbacks: Avant-Garde's First Meeting

The first meeting was a-m-a-z-i-n-g no one expected the turnout... once tallied we had a total of about 102 potential members that night. It was truly the MOST diverse scene that a Georgia Tech classroom has ever seen- people from ever background and ethnicity coming together for one common cause... or love- ART, DESIGN, FASHION! (and more).

We were unable to get pictures of the end result because we were soooo busy, but here's a few shots of the very beginning, before all the seats were taken.

Our Story.

Avant-Garde was birthed from the heart of Tech Alumna Cindy. In December 2007, she sat in the BSO Office after finishing her last final and conversed with fellow students about life, school, and fashion. She began to talk about how she always wanted to create a fashion and arts organization, AG Alumni- Romanda Powers and Chanel Rogers were present and supported the idea. So over the Christmas holidays she created a detailed plan for this new organization-- she was excited!

On her first week back Cindy managed to gather over 30 interested pupils, secured an adviser-- Jackie Cox, and filled out the paperwork to make Avant-Garde an official organization.

With the help of friends she managed to get the word out and applications were turned in for those interested in executive positions. On February 19, 2008 Avant-Garde held its first official meeting. A dozen executive members were introduced and close to 102 potential members came out to learn more about Avant-Garde.
