We Need You: Avant-Garde Future Leaders

The remaining first generation avant-garde members are about to graduate, that means we're looking for some fresh meat to take over soon. We need some cool kids or (wannabe cool kids, lol) to continue the Avant-Garde Legacy. Ya think ya have what it takes? We think, if you're here reading this, then chances are you do.

Okay so here's the deal:

Responsibilities are fairly slim for the upcoming school year:

- For fall, help AG members and AG alum plan EclecTech

- For spring, partner with another GT organization to create a spring fashion show (list of recommended partnering organizations will be provided)

- Organize monthly outings to anywhere arts/fashion/or creative related (i.e museum, restaurant, fashion show, boutique, theater, movie) -OR- attend a GT event or party (as the AG representative) and take some pictures

- be a GT socialite and style reporter of sorts

- update the blog every now and then

(you have free creative reins to plan as you wish)

If you're interested reply below and/or send an email to GTavantgarde (at) gmail (dot) com

why do you want to be involved in avant-garde?

in high school i didn't have the time or guts to cultivate my interest in the the arts and stuff. but i promised myself when i got to college i would get really involved with things that interest me. i've always liked to dress nice and had an interest in fashion plus ive always been interested in painting. i feel like i can learn alot and explore my interest. and also, im not from atlanta so i feel like i'll more quickly be able to learn the city and meet cool and interesting people. id love to be on avant-garde's executive board in any available position.

(call me evenings after 5, and yes i have text)

  2. I stumbled on this site when I was checking out online art. The students on this site are hilarious and the subject is of course anything to do with fashion and design. Remember when we had our Barbies and we lovingly took any lovely scrap of textile and designed prom dresses, coats, sun dresses and killer tops for Babs. Well, this site is the culmination of all that angst and design we poured into our vision of what made fashion, click. Enjoy the marvelous finished product as students check out the key elements of fashion. art and fashion .Fashion means different things to different people. Think of these two radically different designers. Alexander Mc Queen was fresh, dangerous, exhibiting almost alien look in breaking down stuffy design. Versachi on the other hand, has elegant design and fabric that makes his couture similar to the great Coco Channel’s suits and dresses and gowns.

  3. I hope I can participate on this kind of advocacy but I just don't know how to paint; got no talent in visual arts.

I just love the avant-garde art since college. and I still try my best to attend on any kind of exhibit here in my place, Cebu, Philippines. Anyway I'll try to get updated through this blog for more of the avant-garde art. Cheers! ;-)

  5. Hi, my name is Uche Ejike-Nwogu. I sent an email about a month ago but I haven't heard back. The spring semester will soon be over, so I was hoping to get at least a little involved before the semester ends.

    Please help!
